When I pick up this book, I have never heard of the Lady of Ch'iao Kuo. Never heard of her, though I picked it up because I'm a huge history lover/nerd and I wanted to learn about this time in A.D. 531, a time where Confucius and wars and everything else that happened during this period. But I've never heard of Lady of Ch'iao Kuo until now.

So this book is her diary and the first part talks about her short time living at her school in China with Master Chen and his family, and how she's learning how to read and write, because in her village women and men cannot read or write, not even her family. Along with all that, the Dog Heads (another thing I've never heard of) are attacking villages left and right, taking the heads of the people they attacked, and they also killed her father. That's what happened in the first half of the book.

The second half of the book was actually pretty amazing. She comes up with a plan to stop the wild elephants the Dog Heads brought for war, and used it (if I can explain it, I could....) but it worked, and along with all of that, her brother Little Tiger became king of her village, but the problem in the first half he was actually a bit of a prick and didn't listen to anyone, then he got better and actually listened to his people and became a better king.

I enjoyed this book and I really do recommend it.

Book Review: Nimona by Noelle Stevenson.

Ho-Lee-Crap this book is funny and very fun to read. I needed something awesome to read and when I picked this up, I wanted to read more after I was finish with it.

This book is about a girl named Nimona who can shape-shift into anything she wants and she works for Lord Ballister Blackheart...though Lord Ballister didn't want a sidekick-he's used to doing everything alone, like a villain does. But the more he's around Nimona, the more he sees her as a friend....until his nemesis and old pal....dear god his name is just...to me it's funny, but....Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin comes in, saying. "HALT, YOU VILLANS! UNHAND THAT SCIENCE!" and that line...right there....made me laugh so hard...

But the more I read Nimona, the more I honestly felt sorry for Sir Ambrosius and the joust that destroyed his and Ballister's friendship...all because of Central Intelligence (and I hate them so much) and when they caught Nimona and she snapped....I was like HELL YES and another part of me was worried about her because of the black dragon and how she didn't want to leave it because it was a part of her, even though Ambrosius kept telling Ballister to kill her, but he wouldn't do it because she's his friend.

Aweeeee.

I loved every moment of this book and I wish I can read more of Noelle Stevenson's works, because they're awesome.

"Wherever You Go, Go With All Your Heart."-Confucius

Hey y'all and welcome back to my blog!

So I haven't posted ANYTHING lately because I've been busy with my last two classes and worrying about graduating....but as of now, 5/20/2016....I AM OFFICIALLY A GRADUATE. 

It took me three years to finish Georgia Military College...and now I'm offically finished with this school and now going to try and transfer to Kennesaw State University so I can start my BA in English and possibly minor in Mass Communications or French-and PRAY TO THE GODS I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE MATH AGAIN. But I have a feeling I will (dammit) BUT that'll be fine with me! I'm also going up to Macon this weekend for two things-a graduation and a wedding dinner or reception (something like that) and while I'm at it I'm going to be posting two book reviews of the books I'm done reading and try to finish my first read of Little House of the Pairie, called "On the Shores of Sliver Lake" (in which I will try very hard not to rename this blog after that book...though it's gonna be hard because I really want to)

SO CHEERS TO ME GRADUATING NEXT SATURDAY!!!!!! BECAUSE I NEED IT-A LOT.

Book Review: Deeply Devoted (The Blue Willow Brides, #1) by Maggie Brendan

To tell you the truth I don't pick up books like this. I really really don't. But as soon as I opened it started to read it, that's when I just couldn't stop. I read this whole book in two weeks (blame school and that I have only one more week left of it before I graduate!!) and honestly this has to be one of my favorite books that I've ever read. I never thought I'd pick up a book about Cheyenne, Wyoming or about Mail-Order Brides, but I did.

Catharine Olsen left her beautiful Amsterdam for Wyoming as a mail-order bride, bringing her two sisters, Greta and Anna, along with her, along with her mother's set of Blue Willow china, along with a tragic and horrible past. She's going to meet and marry a man named Peter Andersen, who is a wheat farmer, and they did....but for some reason (apparently I'm cursed) Peter's mama, Miss Clara, decided to hire a private investigator to look into Catharine's past.

But at the same time, she didn't know she was going to fall for the private investigator till the end, when she found the documents about Catharine's divorce from her now ex-husband, and felt so terrible for what she did to Catharine and Peter, driving a wedge between them. But Peter forgave her, and now Anna is staying with her so she can start school.

Greta started a relationship with a local solider named Bryan, whom Catharine and Peter didn't like at first because of how he was courting her and how they were sneaking around. But at the end Bryan had to go to a different Army Base, making Greta miss him by writing letters like Catharine and Peter did in their six months writing to each other before she came to Cheyenne.

Other than that this book was cute and wonderful, with the sisters settling in Peter's farm and learning how to live in the farm and the faith of the Lord, along with the troubles of the farm with the wheat not growing this year and the locust keep swarming around. But in the end it was amazing book and I really do reconmend it a lot!!

Like, lose it, lose it. You've tried everything to get the town back, and almost like Storybrooke, you get kicked out of the town line like a boomerang.

Now what?

You and your human lover, along with your cat Penny and your Julia Roberts look-a-like friend goes to Salem to find a way to get Sugar Maple back. And you do...in the form of Samuel Bramford, who was Aerynn's lover. And he gives your lover 24-hour magic powers to help you fight the old magic and get the talisman back.

It was success.

Sugar Maple is back, and that everything's back to normal...until the old caretaker of Samuel Bramford, Elspeth, comes in your old Buick to tell you that Samuel's last wish was that she was to deliver your baby...that baby you didn't know your having. But you are. With your 100% human soulmate.....

And that is the whole entire book with Chloe, Luke and Janice, along with Penny and Samuel and Elspeth. I honestly enjoyed this book once again and it was a quick read for me. I loved it and once again I wanted to read the second and last book, because I'm not ready to leave Sugar Maple, and I really don't wanna say goodbye to Sugar Maple. I really do recommend this book (and this series) a whole lot, even if you don't knit (but you will learn too)

A Very Large April Book Haul.

Hey y'all!

So in April I have in a book-like slump, but for some reason that didn't stop me from buying and checking out books from the library and the Giant Bookstore above Nordstrom Rack in Perimeter Mall (if you know where that is, then you know what I'm talking about). I wanted to do this separately, but then I decided against it since it's May already-a couple weeks to go before I graduate (hopefully) so if you wanna read or see the books I've gotten in April, carry on reading. 

1. Blood Lines by Tanya Huff (I really hate this cover. I really really do.)
2. Cyndere's Midnight by Jeffery Overstreet-never actually heard of him before, and I honestly fell in love with the cover-and the synopsis of the book sounds really good. 
3. The Wicked: A Vampire Huntress Novel by L.A. Banks-when I saw this book, I honestly squealed because I've read this author since high school and never got to finish her novels, and I gave away the ones I have (I think) so now I'm going to be on the hunt to buy all of L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress novels, like I'm doing the Laurell K. Hamilton novels.
