Book Review: Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, #2)Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Teenage me is very happy to get nearly all of the Dark Hunter novels and read them all…but when I checked to see if I reviewed this one…turns out I didn’t. So let’s get started with the review…with a bit of a complaint.

The complaint is…

Talon of the Morrigantes, Spierr of the Morrigantes, my boy…I FEEL SO SORRY FOR YOU BECAUSE SUNSHINE DIDN’T FEED YOU SOME *ACTUAL* FOOD. No offense to the people who are vegan and what not, because I understand. But good lord, there has to be some Popeyes SOMEWHERE around your house or at least a couple miles so he can get some chicken or some Mickey Donalds or hell, some goddarned WENDYS so he can have his burger or some chicky nuggets or SOMETHING. Good lord. Maybe every once in a while you can go to Longhorn or Outback to get him a nice, juicy steak in here??? Please??? (okay, mini food rant over)

But as I was saying, Talon of the Morrigantes is a Dark Hunter…who got hit by a Mardi Gras float. Thanks to Sunshine Runningwolf, the woman that saved him, he’s okay…but he falls in love with her (and the spice? nice) but then he gets distracted when another ‘Acheron’ tells him to say with Sunshine, and he starts to talk all weird…when Talon knows his friend don’t act the way he used to, he realizes things aren’t going the way they’re supposed to…

That’s when things started to hit the fan.

Like the fact that his sister wasn’t around to warn him about that, Talon and Sunshine thinking that she’s his reincarnated wife Nynia (she is if she’s having flashbacks about him) and the fact that he punched her ex-husband while in Sanctuary while also accidentally exposing the Dark Hunters?? Y-yeah that…that happened…but hey, at least at the end Sunshine and Talon found out that Sunshine’s grandmama is the Morrigan and that both of them were under her protection after Talon bit and drank some of Sunshine’s blood while they were getting their swerve on on the grass, but then they had to stop Dionyous, Camulus and Ash’s brother, Styxx before they released Apollymi the Destroyer…only to stab Acheron in the heart and made him switch his humanity off, but Talon calmed him down, and he was back to normal.

Oh yeah, Zarek was in there, but it was like he was getting in trouble left right and was working with wink, blink, and nod, but then when Sunshine made the deal to give up her soul for Talon…it didn’t go well. There were screams and a bolt of lighting…sigh. But at the end, Talon and Sunshine did get their HEA, and now I’m worried about Zarek. And like Simi says…Artemis is a bitch-goddess…no seriously, she is.

Book Review: Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1)Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Born to extreme wealth, Kyrian of Thrace wielded charm and charisma as powerfully as he wielded his sword.

Oh how I miss the world of the Dark Hunters. I miss these badasses so much!!! This book is about my boy, Kyrian of Thrace, and the love of his life, Amanda Deveraux. Amanda wants a simple life-no supernatural involved. One day, she gets kidnapped, getting mistaken for being her sister Tabitha, and woke up chained next to a very sexy man with blonde hair and dark eyes, and...fangs?! Nope. Nope. Nope. She wanted out. But then…

The both of them started to fall in love while Kyrian played the game of “I’m not gonna be attracted to her because good god it’s part of a code to not fall in love” but he fell in love with her anyway. The one thing that did it for me was Theone’s betrayal and Kyrian’s torture in the hands of the Roman Valerious, which was horrible and reading how he broke Kyrian’s legs, then Desiderious doing the same damn thing...that hurt my soul.

But when Acheron Parthenopaeus showed up, that’s when I stood at attention (ha ha, not really). Ash and I have been around each other for so long, that seeing him again made me smile. I really liked how Ash helped Amanda and told her how to handle Kyrian’s soul, though the price he paid for it hurts so damn much. And the painful betrayal that Amanda faked in order to give him back his soul hurted too-but I’m glad she acted along with the betrayal in order to give him his soul back, because I really didn’t want Kyrian to be alone again.

I also loved the appearance of Talon because I missed him too. I wanted to hug the little goober the moment I saw him, because he and Kyrian worked so well, and the way the both of them worked with Amanda while Desiderius was trying to torment the both of them until he died. But the ending was perfect, and I wondered what name did Artemis whispered in Ash’s ear before she disappeared, making my boy go cold? Whoever it was, it scared him half to death, but at least Kyrian and Amanda are happy and are having a baby!! Yay!!!

Book Review: Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Fantasy Lover (Hunter Legends, #1)Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When you read this book two times and you haven't even written a book review the first time...(whoops)

Okay, so hello people, young and old, here's a book review that I haven't written in about five years.

Fantasy Lover is about Mr. Julian of Macedon, first of his name, King of the Andals, so on and so fourth, who is stuck in a book thanks to a curse by fucking Priapus, all because he slept with a virgin that was supposed to sleep with him. Oof. Julian is an old Macedonian general, and whenever he's summoned, all he's supposed to do was please whoever it summoned him, and after a month he's back in the book....

Until he met Grace Alexander, a twenty-something year old sex therapist who summons him and...treats him like a human!? (*le gasp*). Grace teaches him many things-about Peter Pan, about the Hard Rock cafe, she even teaches him about TV (see, if I summoned him, I would've told him about the wide world of anime). Julian, who has been in the book for 2,000 years and is summoned every full moon, has to do whatever his summoner does, which is please them. But he's learning how to be human, and that's when he realizes "oh no, I'm in love with her oh no" BUT BUT the one thing that ticked me off was the ONE TIME he made that damned deal with Athena and says, 'yeah, I'll go back to Macedon, my own time, I don't belong here' which made me mad because he was learning new things, learning how to love...he even told Grace his life story and even went down the elevator hatch to save her from Rodney Carmichael, a creep that stalked the hell out of Grace and thinking that she was his, and he even sold his general ring so he can give her all her books back (my kind of man).

Then at the end, he went back in the book after not spending that night with Grace, and Grace begged and pleaded for someone to bring him back, and the most shocking thing ever is that Aphrodite, Julian's mother, actually reversed time and they had that wonderful, magical night, breaking the curse (hooray). But then...at the end...Priapus appears and went 'nope, since you slept with the girl I was supposed to be with, I'm going to be Mr. Steal Your Girl and steal your girl' and that didn't end well (I mean, Athena AND Aphrodite showed up to help Julian). Julian beats Priapus, and Priapus ends up being in the book, replacing Julian, and then at the end, one year later, Julian and Grace has two twins (yay).

I really loved this book and jumping back in this world made me miss it so much, and Julian of Macedon made it to the *very long list* of boyfriends that I really, really love so much. And if I did summon him through a book, you goddamn right I'm going to introduce him to Jujistu Kaisen, The Folk of the Air series and the Court of Thorns and Roses. Oh and tea. Lots and lots of tea. And coffee. Maybe pinot grigio and the Housewives (I'm going to WRECK his mind if I did all of that)

Book Review: Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #3)Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book...this book, this book, this book. This book made me cry. This book made me laugh. Honestly, this book was really really good-it took me all day to read it, but in all honestly it was really good, like any book I read from Sherrilyn Kenyon.

So this book talks about Zarek, a hardass mutha who was banished from killing a whole entire village-something he didn't do. So Artemis and Acheron asked Astrid to judge him-which she did.

At first, the two didn't like another-Astrid couldn't see, so she had her friend Sasha to help her (even though he was in his wolf form most of the time) and these two kept gettin' into it (almost) until she went into Zarek's past and honestly....THAT WAS PAINFUL. I cringed at his memories-no one should ever go through that-but when Astrid went into his dreams, I cried. Because they made love in the dream and she wanted to give him a good memory.

Well all of that, as all of her novels, turned into something horrible when Thanatos attacked and starts makin' a mess, and killed one Dark Hunter (Which I thought was Bjorn Lothbrok when I saw his name, but it wasn't...darn it), Sundown helped (which was good) but when Simi came to protect Astrid and Zarek, I kept laughing the whole enitre time...but when she got stabbed and she said, "It's not supposed to hurt...I'm invincible. Akri said so." I almost cried.

But I'm glad Acheron forced Artemis to save her. And Simi's right-she should eat the bitch heifer-goddess because honestly? She's a bitch and couldn't even say her name until Ash told her to say it.

But THE ENDING. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE ENDING THO. THE ENDING MADE ME CRY. When Zarek went back to get Astrid? I CRIED. I pumped my fist and said 'AWWWWWWW YISSSSS' and 'FINALLY YA BIG OAF YOU GOT YOUR WOMAN' (well, after I cried and put the book down).

And the choice the Thanatos/Callyx made? Perfection.

This was an amazing book and I do reconmend this book a lot!!!

Book Review: Bad Moon Rising by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Bad Moon Rising (Dark-Hunter, #14; Were-Hunter, #6; Hellchaser, #3)Bad Moon Rising by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay...THIS BOOK THO. I teared up at some parts, I wanted to throw the darn book at the wall, but I just couldn't and FINALLY, after all this time, Fang & Aimee got together, even though they endured some hardships and Fang fighting in hell, this was an amazing book.

So this book started off with Vane and Fang showing the first two guys, Keegan and Liam, and it was nice (but also funny when Fang went to sleep for a couple moments), but it was also when Fang met Aimee. And as we moved along in this wonderful story, we get to the part where Anya, Fang and Vane's sister, was about to give birth to the puppies until they were attacked (oddly enough, I've forgot who attacked them-I wanna say Daimons so badly) but then at the end, when all of them were dead, Acheron couldn't save Anya and her pups (sadly) so when Markus (the dick) found out about Anya's death, he LITERALLY pissed me off right then when he decided right then to beat them and hang them from a tree. I would thought the gators would get them...but now.

HERE COMES THE BLOODY DAIMONS, CHOMPIN' AT 'EM.

Fang loses half his soul and ends up in the Netherworld, where he's fighting demons, and at the same time, Aimee and Dev are out killing the Daimons who took Fang’s soul, slowly but surely, but then Misery wanted her, so Fang does the most stupid thing I can’t believe he would do.

HE SOLD HIS SOUL.

EXCUSE YOU, SIR, YOU DINGUS, YOU SASSY SUE, YOU MOOK, I OUTTA….OUTTA…

Well…I just let Thorn kick your wolfish ass before I do it.

AND SPEAKING OF THORN....he gives Fang his first assignment-to beat the demon Phrixis...and Fang does the opposite and kills him, making him suck the demon's soul inside him, and also making him the demon's host, and the demon's power made him kill-and he almost hurt Aimee when the demon's took over him, but then he quickly snapped back and pushed her away so he won't hurt her. Then there were some murders that happened and Fang was scared that he was doing them, but it turns out it was Misery and her cronies.

But the worst part of the book was the battle in Sanctuary, and when Mama Lo and Papa Bear died. I was like, NO, YOU DON'T DIE, THAT'S SO BAD, YOU STUPID DEMONS, I FRICKIN' HATE YOU but at the end, Fang & Aimee FINALLY mated and they are now the owners of Sanctuary and is rebuilding (and will open July 4th).

I loved this novel because of the feels and the Fang & Aimee feels, and seeing Vane again...UGH ALL OF THE FEELS!!! I loved it and I really really do recommend it!!!

Book Review: Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Play (Were-Hunter, #1; Dark-Hunter, #5)Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can I say about this book? It has a whole lot of sexy werewolves, FEELS, some wibbly wobbly timey wimey (I am convinced that Vane is a mini Time Lord and he's his own personal TARDIS). This was an awesome book and it made me want a Vane so I can keep him myself so he won't get away.

Vane sees Bride in her store after he was watching Sunshine and as soon as he brought her that $600 Victorian necklace, the feels happened. It happened to the point that I cried because I wanted to be in Bride's place. So after the feels and me crying up a storm through their first date and all, then I was introduced to Taylor, Bride's stupid-ass ex-boyfriend, who latterly called her fat. EXCUSE ME, SON? Is what I said before Vane showed up, punched Taylor and paid the moving men to put Bride's things back where they belong. Then when they were having lunch, Vane's hand showed the same mark that was on Bride's hand and the only thing that was hilarious was that Bride thought that Vane was a serial killer.

So Bride called Tabitha and they went to Amanda and Kyrian's house, where Vane and Fury explained everything AFTER Amanda mistakenly let in the demon Alastor and Vane had to beat him up and such, then Bride was kidnapped by Alastor and was sent to the Dark Ages, when Bride met Vane's mother, Bryani. Bryani tells Bride the long and everlasting story of how she met Vane's father and how she gave birth to Vane, Fury, Fang and three human children, that she wanted to kill the three Katagari but never did. Then she saw the mark on Bride's hand and goes, 'Oh I'm sorry Bride, there is only one way to break the mark,' And all of a sudden all those guys stating going after her like they were going to rape her.

Thank god for Vane who flashed in (like a TARDIS, but without a sound) and saved Bride from those rapist bastards and then for two weeks, they spent some time together. When Vane went to see Fang for a while, Bride had dinner with Valerius (they were at his house at this time) and Valerius was the perfect host and when Vane came back, Valerius told Vane that Bride's a good mate and that he would protect her I think. Vane was shocked to hear Valerius' pledge.

To me the most romantic part of the book was Thanksgiving dinner with Bride's family. Even though Fury and Vane was a little uncomfortable, they helped Bride's father with a troublesome dog. But the one thing that made me made as hell was Bride's sister, Deidre, saying that Vane's out of her sister's league and that she was better with Taylor. Really, bro? Really?

But my favorite part was when Bride and Vane went to Sanctuary for a Thanksgiving dinner, Vane and Bride went to see Fang and as soon as Vane went to get drinks, Bryani showed up...and let's just say that Bride TOLD Bryani that if she comes near her and Vane again...she'll don on her camo, hunt her down, and skin her till she screams.

NOW CAN I GET AN AMEN!!!!!

Then at the end, Vane sang 'Story of Us' and they got engaged. Then Simi said what every girl wishes from her favorite actor/model/singer/wrestler: akri, get Travis Fimmel here so he can marry me!'

Simi...I'm with you on that.

But Ash said no (*cries*) but then it alls good because at the end, Mr. Mini-TARDIS Kattalakis went to the Island and made a couple of changes to his parents fates (WAIT A MINUTE...HE CAN'T DO THAT!! Can he? Oh yeah he just did...dang this wibbly wobbly, timey wimey thing) and then he went back to Bride and held her...which made me have feels again.

I do reconmend this book a whole lot an I hope you'll love it like I did!
