Book Review: Sojourn, a Legend of Drizzt novel by R.A. Salvatore

Book three of the Dark Elf Trilogy...I enjoyed myself-this was a good book. It was slow at first, with him trying to get to know the Thistledown children before he had to hide, but then he avenged their deaths when the fucking barghest came, took the form of the drow (possibly him) and killed him with his own scimitar, and Drizzt and Guenhwyvar killed them (there were two), then he left the village to go somewhere else to live, all the while being chased by Roddy McGristle, whom I hated so much because all he wanted was to kill Drizzt and in the end he didn't.

We get to meet new characters-Montolio DeBrouchee, a blind hermit ranger who follows Mielikki, Burenor Battlehammer, and his daughter Catti-Brie. Along with other characters like Kellindil and Dove Falconhand, I honestly enjoyed this book so much (and can’t wait till next year to dig into the books I ordered and read the moment 2020 gets here). I enjoyed the book, the action was beautiful and I was happy when Catti-Brie and Drizzt became friends, even though she had to defy Burenor to do it.

I honestly didn’t like Roddy, mostly because he went after Drizzt, swearing up and down that he killed the Thistledowns (which wasn’t the case) and yes Drizzt cut his ear off and had to kill the dog because he attacked first while Drizzt couldn’t speak a lick of English. But to just put all the blame on one person instead of listening to reason, letting you go down this horrible road to Drizzt only to be turned away-that’s what you get, honestly. But I loved this book and I can’t wait to read more of this book series.

Well this book made me cry for some odd reason. I mean, it's short, and on top of that there is a preview of the next book (in which i'm ready for, even when she said that the next book is a Nesta and Cassian book, in which I scream very loudly. In my head) but among other thing, and I hate that this was a short book, it was filled with so much goodness.

Like Feyre and her opening a art studio on rainbow road for the people hurt in the war and I cried over that. Even when it looks like Elain was finally being happy with everyone, thanks to Nuala and Cerriwen (I can't write names), but staying away from Lucien. Even Morrigan trying her dangest to celebrate the Winter Solstice, even when they visited the Court of Night and she wanted to kill Eris and her father right then and there, but didn't. And Rhysand giving Feyre a house for all of them to live in, for her to decorate however she wanted-that made me cry the most.

The only bad thing that I didn't like from the book was Tamlin and his broodness and how torn he was FROM THE SHIT HE PULLED WITH FEYRE AND HOW FEYRE BROUGHT THE WHOLE SPRING COURT DOWN, and all the shit Nesta's doing. I'm was so mad at her for just doing what she was doing, and also that she slept with men before she even slept with Cassian (which for right now will never happen, but I WANT THEM TOGETHER, YEEZUS) but other than that I loved it.

Even when Rhys and Feyre had amazing sex to the point that it destroyed Rhysand that he probably couldn't walk for a while-he probably was sitting in a corner, sucking on his thumb calling for his mother before he went to visit Tamlin again. But I enjoyed myself reading this and now I wanna read more of this series (and also more Throne of Glass. Because I miss my hubby Rowan).

Alright...this book right here....BROKE ME IN SO MANY WAYS.

I thought the wars in Game of Thrones were bad...I was waiting for nearly half my favorite characters to die...BUT NOPE NOT REALLY, THEY JUST GOT BROKEN TO THE POINT THAT I STARTED TO CRY WHEN RHYSAND DECIDED TO GIVE EVERYTHING AND DIE WHEN HE AND FEYRE FIXED THE CAULDRON.

I don't even know how to start this book review, to tell you the truth. From Feyre basically being a bad bitch and destroying the Spring Court, from Nesta and Cassian NOT GETTING TOGETHER, IN WHICH I NEED THEM TO, all three of the scariest people-The Bone Carver, The Weaver, Brayxsis (the one that scared Cassian to death) to this stupid-ass war with the King of Hybern. And the new characters-the High Lords of Dawn, Summer an Day (I believe) court, Drakon and Mariyam, Nephelle, Elain's ex-fianee, even Jurian from the last book. But this book broke me in so many ways that I cried, held my breath...this book has broken me in so many ways.

Also I'm glad and proud of the changes between Nesta and Elain, who stayed away from everyone, and then came into their own-Elain became a seer, Nesta became a little warrior. Even when Elain shoved Truth-Teller in the King's neck, I was proud of her, coming out of her shell and showing people what she can do.

But the one person that shocked me the most was Amren (I've written her name as Amren when I did the book review of ACOMAF, which is my bad), when she tricked Feyre so she could go in and destroy the Hybern army, turning into a huge bird (or fire drake or dragon), but she came back as a High Fae.

Also Feyre flew and I'm proud about that.

I love this series so much and now I'm going to start reading the novella, because I don't think these stories and these people, our family, if I can call them that, are over.

I gave this book a three out of five stars for reasons-one of them was the "yikes" when Elizabeth of York falls for her uncle, Richard III, secondly was that it fell a bit flat for me in the end and also of the fact that I wanted to watch the show that I watched as soon as it came out. But all in all, I honestly enjoyed this book, though there were some people I wanted to smack upside the head so damned badly-like George, Duke of Clarence for being the most stupidest man on the planet, Richard, for just being really...how can I put this...idiotic at the end.

Sure he was made Lord of the North and all, but good googly moogly son. All of that after King Edward died, and you wanna pull shit like that? Really? I honestly just shook my head and kept on reading, and each time I read it I got madder to the point that once it was over, it was over-I was done with the book, and I felt sorry for Elizabeth because she lost her sons (she may or may not have lost them) and then everything else that happened to her-Edward's whoring (in which I would threaten to cut his cock off if he ever did it again), the death of her father and brothers and son...it mentally hurt me to see her go through all of this and come out unscathed.

This is my second book that I have read of Philippa Gregory, and this book broke me in so many ways.

AND CHAPTER 55 HOLY SHIT BALLS AND COCK MY FRIENDS IT WAS GLORIOUS. BUT OH NO WE'RE GOING TO GET THE CAULDRON AND SHIT HAPPENS AND FEYRE'S SISTERS ARE TURNED INTO FAE THANKS TO THE KING OF HYBERN AND THEN LUCIEN AND TAMLIN WALK IN



AND THEN SHE WENT BACK TO THE SPRING COURT TO SPY ON TAMILIN, WHILE ALSO SECRETLY HIDING THAT SHE'S THE HIGH LADY OF THE NIGHT COURT AND STILL RHYSAND'S MATE I'M SO PROUD OF MY BABY SHE GREW SO MUCH AND NOW I'M GOING TO READ THE THIRD BOOK AND CRY SO YEAH ENJOY ME SCREAMING ABOUT THIS BOOK.

Book Review: An Affair Before Christmas

When you thought you did a book review on this book, but in reality you really didn't, and so you're about to do a book review now...

Soo hi, here's a book review about eight years too late when I first started reading this book, thinking 'Oh, I've read this book and it turns out...you fucking didn't. So this book was a fast read for me, mostly because I needed something to help me get over my Matthew Clairmont addiction, but in fact...it made it a tiny bit worse because of the fact that they went to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and I cried a little because it made me think of Matthew...BUT ENOUGH ABOUT MATTHEW CLAIRMONT....

This book was honestly a trip for me. It started off with Poppy and Fletch having a sexless marriage because of Poppy's overbearing mother...and yet once again, my problem with overbearing mamas telling their daughters what to do reared up big time and then Poppy falling out of love with the Duke of Fletcher because of her mama. So she moved out of her own home to live with Jemma (and honestly, lemme say this real quick: Jemma, Duchess of Beaumont, is giving me hella Lady Rosalie vibes and inspiration for her for my own Christmaswip-more on that on my blog later) and slowly she starts to turn into a Naturalist and finding her own self, letting go of everything her mama told her to do and just...be Perdita. Not a puppet her mother wanted her to be.

Fletch and Poppy kept thinking that they didn't love each other, they will forever be in a sexless marriage and will never have children. Fletch though Poppy hated sex, but it turns out that she listened to her damned mama about sex that she didn't even enjoy it...until that nigh at the Beaumont house, where Poppy started feeling those urges for him again, and decided to tell her friends that she wanted to seduce Fletch into bed like a Frenchwoman..well, after her mother went into a nunnery because someone thought that she was in love with a young man, then she felt those feeling for Fletch, and she seduced her husband like she was a Frenchwoman.

But the one odd thing in the story was the Duke of Villiers and his wound he got from the Earl of Gryffon, and how Miss Charlotte Tatlock pretty much brought him back to life, snapping at him and thinking he was dead and all...but all in all it was a really good book, even when Poppy and Fletch made love in a little bunny cave outside, I think? But it was really good and it gave me a lot of inspiration for my Christmaswip.

Book Review: A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

This book....this book, this book, this book. I thought when I first opened it and started to read it that it'll bore me to death, and I put it down. So when I brought it last year and this year decided to read it after watching the show...and I'm so glad I did. I couldn't put it down, even though I'm reading about three other books at once. But no one didn't tell me that I'd fall for Matthew Clairmont. No one told me that I'd cry over this book, over Bishmont and cheering for them. No one also didn't tell me that I was going to hunger for the next two books that I'm getting for Christmas.

But can we talk about Diana and her magic? Like good lord, woman-witchwater, witchfire, can knock people out of your mind-whoo girl. I wouldn't use it too if it'll attract a lot of attention from nearly everyone. And the book-the Ashmole 782...and how her dad enchanted it so she could get it...that was honestly brilliant.

And Matthew...god I can go on and on about my new husband (yes...yes I could. Because I wasn't supposed to fall for him, but I did...and now I love him and want to read more of him dammit). At first when Matthew appeared, I went "oh great, another Edward...yeah I hate you now." but the more I read the book to the point that I realize that yeah Matthew has some Edward Cullen-like tendencies, but then the more you know him, the more you realize that he's half (actually, he's better) than Edward Cullen will ever be. Sure he *tries* to boss Diana around, but I like the fact that Diana put her foot down and don't like sit back like Bella did in the Twilight novels.

(If it sounds like I'm bashing Twilight, I'm not...it's a comparison and honestly, I think I'm doing a good job comparing them).

I loved this book so much that I felt like I should just go ahead and get books two and three since I already have the fourth book (thanks, school). But before I do, we gotta talk about the bad guys-Peter Knox, who I hate so much, Satu...I hope she dies in a ditch somewhere, Dominico and Gellert or Javier or whatever his name is can go away...dammit.
