Book Review: Soundless by Richelle Mead

SoundlessSoundless by Richelle Mead
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Good night this book...I honestly liked this book. The way it's written, the way its told, everything. But the way it started, how slow it was at the beginning...it irritated me a little bit but I honestly enjoyed it from beginning to end. I was intrigued by the fact that this whole entire book was focus on sound and sound only, and they only used sign language to speak. I found it fun and cool to read.

So what is this story about?

It's about a girl named Fei who one day got her hearing back, and her sister is slowly going blind. So she and her friend Ji Wei travels from their village, down the mountains to go talk to the line keeper, the person who they thought takes care of the zip line and the ration of food. When they made it down the mountain after starting a couple of rock avalanches, they went to a town and found more people that uses sign language, and they also find out from a woman named Nuan that the King is just using their village to get metal and then killing them off once all the metal is mined. Scared that that was going to happen, Fei wanted to go back to the village, even though Ji Wei told her that he loved her (by kissing her) and told her to run. But Fei had to go back because f her sister, so the two went to the zip line and Ji Wei threw her on the zip line so she can go back to their village to tell everyone, not him.

And she did...though it stopped in the middle because the soldiers found Ji Wei and cornered him, and Fei had to climb all the way back to the village, where she sneaked and found her sister, Zhang Jing, and the two reunited and went to the room where they paint (I can't remember the name of the room) and started to make a record of her adventure.

Once she was done, they went outside to hang it up, but as the villager's read it, they didn't believe it and tore it down, blaming Fei for everything that happened to them when she and Ji Wei left. Then the soliders came, rounding up the villagers and led them to the mines to mine, but they didn't get to Fei and Ji Wei, who was captured at the zip line, and they went to the Peacock Court, where they told them their story to the Elders. Elder Chen I believe believed them and told them of the pixius that helped them get rid of the soliders, and at the end Fei met her pixius, Yin Feng.

Also at the end, her and Ji Wei are getting married. Though I would like to know what else happened after Soundless, this is sadly a stand alone novel and it was really good and I enjoyed it.

Book Review: Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5)Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

HOLY SHIT THIS BOOK THO. I HONESTLY MISSED THIS SERIES SO BAD. From the beginning to end, this have been an amazing book. Some parts of it made me gag, made me wanna throw the book to the wall-it was wonderful and I loved it.

So this book started with the graduation test of Rose, which she graduated with flying colors. Then came the breakout with Victor Dashkov, Lissa's uncle, along with Eddie, so they can find Victor's brother so they can find out a way to save Rose's ex-boyfriend, Dimitri, from being a Strigoi. So they go to Vegas and, along with Adrian, meets up with Robert and Robert told them how to bring someone back from being a Strigoi: charm a stake with spirit, and stake them in the heart. And the part Rose don't like was that only a Spirit user had to do it. Which means Lissa had to do it.

And of course, Rose said hell no-she won't even let Lissa near a Strigoi. But sadly that didn't happen when they came back to Court. Eddie and Rose had do to some work for the guardians while Lissa and Christian went to Lehigh University, where surprise, surprise, Dimitri showed up and kidnapped them, his army of Strigoi killing the group of guardians and Patricia Voda. Since both Rose and Lissa are shadow-kissed and have the bond, Rose saw everything and she went with the rest of the guardian team to save them.

Then something amazing happened during the rescue: Lissa, using her charmed stake, shoving it awkwardly in Dimitri's heart (thanks to Christian's fire), and...Dimitri was back as a Dhampir. Everything should be great, right?

Nope.

Dimitri went with the guardians, and only requested Lissa to see him. Sure Rose was mad, but she agreed, seeing him through the bond. It hurted her so bad to see him that way, and honestly...it made me mad. Dimitri didn't want to see her-okay. But there's Adrian who loves her and would do ANYTHING for her.

A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

BUT NO, she kept ignoring him until they spent the night together....and on that same night, the Queen Tatiana was killed...with Rose's sliver stake.

BUT Rose didn't do it.

She went to court and was presented with the evidence, and everyone believed the evidence and she was put in jail.

This book was amazing and I really need to read the last book so I can wish my favorite characters goodbye.

Book Review: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

HOLY CRAP this book though!!!! I've read this book till the end and right now...I CAN'T with this book. Sydney Sage wake up one night by her father, scared that she was going to go to a re-education place because of what happened in the last book of the Vampire Academy series (have not read that one yet-it's on the list!!!), but instead she was re-inked to go back to school on a mission to watch over and protect Jill Dragomir, Lissa Dragomir's sister. Along with Eddie Castile and somehow Adrian, she goes to Amberwood Prep.

Along with the normal high school things-being picked on by the most popular girl at school (and get their revenge on her slowly, because part one was funny-Jill freezing Laurel's shower water), dealing with boys-but then there was a thing with the tattoos from a place called Nevermore, with Sydney getting interested to the point that she and Adrian broke in the place and finding out about what was in the tattoos-inluding the vampire blood.

Going back to the tattoo shop, the tattoo guy thought that Sydney was the dealer who provided the vampire blood-and it turned out that it was none other than Keith Darnell (I really didn't like him at all) and she had to get Adrian to help her bust him. And it worked-until Chapter 24, when Lee pulled out a knife on Sydney and it turned out....

DUN DUN DUN....

Lee was the one who killed those girls, and he was the one who was a Strigoi before he was turned back by a spirit user and wanted to "awake" himself again. So he tried to take Syndey's blood...nope that didn't work at all because something was wrong with her blood-and then he took Adrian's blood (in which I wanted to chuck this book TO THE WALL, FOLKS. TO THE BLOODY WALL.) but that didn't work neither.

So Lee called his Strigoi friends and literally begged them to turn him again...but he didn't, and he died. Then Eddie and Jill came (all of this went down after the fashion show and the blow-up between Adrian and Sydney) and Eddie destroyed the Strigoi (with a little bit of Jill's help) and in the end everything was fine-Adrian got the apartment he wanted, Keith went away, Sydney is back in school watching Jill, and everything is cool....before the end of the book, when Sonya Karp came in the room and Angelina came into the room as well (she's gonna be Sydney's new roommate)...DIMITRI BELIKOV COMES IN THE ROOM.

HOLY CRAP, PEOPLE. HOLY CRAP.

But I loved this book a lot, and I can't wait to read the second book.
