Book Review: Driven (Otherworld Stories) by Kelley Armstrong

Driven (Otherworld Stories, #13.6)Driven by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So this is my third Kelley Armstrong book I've read, and I have to say, this one was a bit of an eyeopener, though when it comes to werewolf books, I shouldn't be. Mostly because of the fact that Malcolm, a man I know is dangerous, is let back into the pack. I thought he was too unstable for it, but I guess not because he's back in, but Elena's keeping him at arm's length as the Pack helps Davis Cain, a werewolf who fond his family skinned and castrated.

So he, Elena, Clay and the rest of the Pack starts to find out who killed the Cains and why, and it turns out that two dumb Cains (well one, actually) raped and killed a girl, which turned out to be a necromancer's daughter.

Oy vey.

So of course the Pack had to stop the killing of the Cains by finding one of the rouge werewolves that works for the mercenaries and get the information out of him, and then go out and find the killers (after Clay kills one of the Cains that they were looking for.) I got worried for a moment because of the Malcolm factor, but I did relish it when Clay knocked some sense into Malcolm's fat head, because he needs it.

In fact, I never really liked Malcolm in the book because he thought he knew everything, and he kept trying to one-up Elena, but to me, he needed that asswhuppin' (that's what I'm gonna call it because it's what he deserves) and I think he knows now who's the Alpha and how the Pack works not that Elena's the Alpha.

Book Review: Forsaken by Kelley Armstrong

ForsakenForsaken by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book...this book, this book, this book...holy moly....

This book made me shake, nearly have a panic attack, and also made me worry about both Elena and Clay and their kids...

And no, no, no this book didn't make me have ideas of writing my own werewolf AU (it totally did).

But anyway...

Elena is all the way up in England, at a Alpha meeting and she hates the Alpha of the UK pack and wants to go home to her kids and husband on their family trip. She does, but not before her daughter walks out of the house and gets lost. Worried, she starts looking for her, only to catch the scent of another werewolf that should've been in Belguim, Malcolm Danvers, but it totally wasn't him as she finally found her daughter, scared, shaking and alone, but this time she saw the muscles moving and started having fears of her daughter changing into a werewolf.

So the Danvers family moved to a hotel and that's when everything came ahead. Turns out the UK pack wanted to show that Elena was a weak, hysterical mother (and they didn't), and both Kate and Logan successfully Changed into werewolves (that part makes me cringe when Kate changed) and also they didn't want to give Malcolm a chance, but they're thinking about it. And it was nice to see Hope and Karl again (sans her pregnancy from Otherworld Secrets).

Book Review: Otherworld Secrets by Kelley Armsrong

Otherworld Secrets (Otherworld Stories, #4)Otherworld Secrets by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I haven't read an anthology in so long that when I picked this book up I actually had a good time reading it. So I'm going to break this anthology up by the stories so I can fully review this book.

1) Life After Theft (Hope x Karl) – This one I read through quickly. Someone set up Karl, a werewolf and a thief, about stealing something when he wanted to retire and work part time for his children. So he and his wife investigates who set him up while also stealing a very priceless grimiore. I loved this one and their kid as well.

2) Forbidden (Elena x Clay) – Morgan Walsh comes from Alaska to see if he wants to join The Pack, but then is accused of killing someone. Elena and Clay comes down from Stonehaven to investigate and to clear Morgan's name. Honestly I loved this one as well, mostly because of Elena and Clay from Bitten.

3) Angelic (Eve x Kristoff) – Have no memory of what happened in this one. It was alright to me, nothing to run home to tell mama about.

4) Zen and the Art of Vampirism (Zoe) – Basically Zoe just scared off some potential new vamps in town.

5) The Ungrateful Dead (Jamie) – A dead guy wanted Jamie to investigate his and his cousin's murder, turns out the guys were zombies and she and Savannah gives them to someone named Molly.

6) Counterfeit Magic (Paige x Lucas) – Underground fight club for supernatural but one of the brothers is getting blackmailed. A demon tricks Paige to make her think that Lucas is cheating on her, but it turns out it was someone that was part of the Cabal that wants to take Lucas's place, but that didn't work at all.

So all in all, this is a really good anthology but some I just didn't care to remember, which is a shame really.
